Laurentiu Norocel and Claire Tatman collaborate with Reno’s own master violin maker, Tim Dodd.
The event will be a combination concert and informal discussion and demonstration of the “anatomy” and function of violins. This concert will feature violin solos and duets played by the artists using violins made by Reno’s own violin maker and business owner, Tim Dodd.
In between performances by Mr. Norocel and Ms. Tatman featuring different styles of violin music, Mr. Norocel will describe the features of a violin and how a violin produces sound. Mr. Dodd will make available “deconstructed violins” and violin parts that will be passed through the audience during this portion of the presentation.
A portion of the concert will feature “head to head” performances on different violins, and the audience will be invited to vote on their favorite. We are hoping to include a baroque violin and possibly a violin made by a famous nineteenth century Italian maker.
